This morning I was getting everything ready to sit outside and enjoy the weather and read for tonight's Bible Study. In front of me is a coffee cup that says 1 Corinthians 16:13 "Stand Firm In The Faith." As I was sitting here thinking about that I started to remember something from my childhood.
When I was a teenager my Dad took me and a friend out to the Grapevine Dam when it flooded around the area. My friend and I got out on the dam and ran back and forth across the dam with dip nets trying to catch fish that would come over the dam. The water was running about 3" to 4" deep and very swift. One of the first things my Dad said to us when we got out there was make sure your feet are firm when the fish hits your net or it will carry you over the dam. The other thing was while we were running the water was so swift that it would push you atwards the back in of the dam so, you always had to run up on an angle.
As we were catching the fish a younger boy than us was running and not realizing that the water was pushing him and went over the dam in the swift current sucking him under the water. After 4 times of coming back up he managed to grab a rock and started to yell. His Dad swam across swift current to save his life.
In our life there is always going to be times that Satan is constantly pushing us in the wrong direction and if we are not watching and praying we will get swept away from God and back unto sin. We could loose our life and end up in Hell. However, I thank God because I met a savior that all I have to do is call out to Him and He will save my life from Hell and give me access to Heaven.
Have faith in God that if we stand strong in Him that He will be there to help us in our time of need.
1 Corinthians 16:12
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
