Genesis 21, 8-21

8 So the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the same day that Isaac was weaned.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing.[a]

10 Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac.”

11 And the matter was very [b]displeasing in Abraham’s sight because of his son.

12 But God said to Abraham, “Do not let it be displeasing in your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman. Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice; for in Isaac your seed shall be called.

13 Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman, because he is your [c]seed.”

14 So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and [d]a skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the boy to Hagar, and sent her away. Then she departed and wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba.

15 And the water in the skin was used up, and she placed the boy under one of the shrubs.

16 Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, “Let me not see the death of the boy.” So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept.

17 And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.

18 Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.”

19 Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink.

20 So God was with the lad; and he grew and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

21 He dwelt in the Wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.             Here we see Hagar and Ishmael was sent out into the Wilderness of Beersheba and ran out of water.  She sits her son Ishmael down under one bush and she goes and sits at a far enough distance that she cannot see her son die.

You see water is very important to our bodies.

Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%.               Oh and by-the-way:  Dr. Maureen Storey (Senior Vice President, Science Policy, Amercan Beverage Association): Soda is comprised mostly of water.  A full calorie soft drink has 90 percent water and a diet soft drink is 99 percent water.

The Earth surface is 71 percent covered in water.

Water is the one thing that was given by God to keep Ishmael alive.

Mark 1:4

John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance [b]for the remission of sins.

John preached that men should repent of their sins, and believe in Christ, who was to come; and upon their repentance and faith, be baptized; in which ordinance, they might be led to a fresh view of the free and full forgiveness of their sins, through Christ; whose blood was to be shed for many, to obtain it:

So, we see here that baptism was not done until after you repent of your sins.

Genesis 6:12-13

12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

God saw all of the sin that man had committed and decided to destroy all of mankind by flooding the earth with water.

John 7:37-38

37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”               In the Biblical text lies the answer of your entire bodies necessities.  Your body needs water to survive.  Why not give it the best H2O there is.  Give it the living water of Christ.
