Exodus 17:8-15
Fighting For Victory

 Exodus 17:8:15

The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.

Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”

10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill.

11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.

12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.

13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”

15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.

1.      Attacked     -           We are sometimes attacked by the enemy.  He will try to destroy us in any way he can.  He will try to get us down and destroy our minds with all kinds of junk.  Satan will attack your marriage, friendship, and relationship with God.

1 Peter 5:10 10 But [a]may the God of all grace, who called [b]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, [c]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.

2.      Stand                        -           Moses stood on the hill with a staff of God in his hand.  When we are in a storm in our lives it is hard to stand.  Although Moses was tired he held up with all of his strength so that the Israelites could be victorious.

Ephesians 6:11 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil.   3.      Tiredness    -           Moses stood so long with his arms raised that he begin to put his arms down and when he did the enemy the Amlakites would start to prevail.  After we have fought the enemy for a while we begin to grow tired and weak.  We get to the point that we are so tired that we want to give up.

Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.

4.      Help              -           After sometime Aaron and Hur finally stepped in and placed a stone under him so that he could sit down and held up Moses hands.  There are times in our lives that we need someone to come along and help us out of the attack that we are under.

James 4:7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Luke 10:19 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

5.      Victory                     -           When the sun went down then the Israelites were victorious because of God.  When things are tough we need to call out to God.  We should get on our knees before God and pray for healing, guidence, and deliverance from our enemy and then Victory will be ours through Jesus Christ our savior.

Deuteronomy 28:7 “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.   We are winners!   Through Jesus Christ who died on a cross for you and I we are winners.

 We are winners!

Through Jesus Christ who died on a cross for you and I we are winners.
