1 John 1:9
The Promises Of God

 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1. PROMISE OF SALVATION

We must confess to Jesus that we know we have sinned and then we must ask for Jesus to forgive us of our sins.  It is by our Faith and Confession that we can then receive our Salvation through Jesus Christ.

Our Faith is:

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

2. PROMISE OF PEACE

John 14:27

27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

We will have peace in our life when we live for Jesus.  We should not allow fear or problems bother us or get us down.

Our Salvation brings us peace and understanding.  When we start to get afraid of something or  bothered by something then we need to call out to Jesus and allow him to remove the fear or problem.

Satan does all he can to destroy us and he know that our thoughts are a good place to start.

We must keep our minds upon God and dwell with God daily.  Meaning we must pray and read His word to know what we must do to stay out of the hand of evil.

Isaiah 41:10

10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’   God says that He will help you Strengthen You Deliver you  from evil

3.  PROMISE OF BLESSINGS

Philippians 4:19

19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Have you ever had a need and God supplied your need?

Many years ago  I was in need of a car to get back and forth to a new job I had just gotten.  One afternoon I received a phone call and that person gave me a car to get to my new job.

Just a few years ago I was looking for a new job.  My wife and I begin to pray and I soon received a new job with Insurance (which I never had) 401K (which I never had) and better money.

4. PROMISE OF OVERCOMING TEMPTATIONS

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to [a]bear it.

We will have times that we are tested by temptations.

Drugs

Alcohol

Porn

Smoking

Stealing

God can help you get away from these temptations.  But you have to start by trying to refuse and call out to God.  Read the Word of God to see what it says about your tempation.

Even Jesus was tempted by Satan

5. PROMISE OF LIFE AFTER DEATH AND A DESTINATION

John 14:2-6

2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
