Matthew 6:31-33
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Verse 31: Don't Worry........Be Happy
Verse 32: The Gentiles had no part in God's Covenant with Israel; consequently, they had no part in God's Economy, and, basically, had to fend for themselves. We have the guarantee of our Heavenly Father's word.
Verse 33: He gives a condition and that is we must first seek the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness.
John 6 Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.
Jesus went to a mountain and sat with His disciples.
Then the multitude approached him and was hungry.
This is where Jesus took the young boys 5 barley loaves and two small fishes and then he did something miraculous.
He prayed to His heavenly Father and gave Thanks for what he had. Then the disciples too what he had prayed over and fed the 5000.
Then when they had finished eaten the disciples took what was left over back up and filled 12 baskets.,
You see God does not just bless who serves Him, but He gives them more.
In the winter of December 17, 2011, over 5000 people gathered for a rally in support of Jesus on the Henderson County courthouse lawn in Athens, Texas. More specifically, they were gathered in support of the manager scene on the southeast side of the square which has been a local tradition for decades in the East Texas town near Tyler.
It was written also in the Bible that a foolish man builds his house upon the sand but, a wise man builds his house upon a rock.
Solid Foundation We are in the middle of Summer and we love to cook out on the grill. Have you ever cooked 2 hamburgers to feed 5 people?
Probably Not!
Why, because that will not feed 5 people unless they only took one bite. That would not make a grown person full. Yet Jesus made 5000 full out of 5 barley loaves and 2 small fishes.
Malachi 3:10
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
I read a book a few years ago called "The Blessed Life' by the senior pastor of Gateway Church Robert Morris.
He tells a story about one time when they were headed to a revival in Oklahoma. He said they stopped at a gas station and filled their car up with gas. When he went inside to pay for it the cashier said your gas is already paid for. After he pressured the lady to tell him who paid for it she said that it was her. She said when you pulled up God said to pay for your gas and that you were an evangelist.
As he sat in the car and told his wife he was reminded that a month before that he only had one engagement to preach for the month. He said that they might get $600.00 one week and $200.00 the next week for a service. He said that since this was their only engagement for the month that they would not be able to pay all of their bills.
He said that night after service that the pastor handed him a check and said "Bro. this is the most my church has ever giving anyone. As he sat back down and looked at the check he realized that it was the exact amount they needed to survive for a month.
Then the Lord spoke to him and said give that check to the missionary that stood and gave his report to the church. Of course he tried to argue with God. However, he did finally say ok and endorsed the check and gave it to him.
Then they went out with a large group of people after service for pizza and a man sitting across from him leaned over and asked him how much his check was that night.
He lied and said that he didn't know because he had not looked at it. Then the man said "let me see the check". The man said well my wife has it. So, then he said well go get it so that I can see it.
So the preacher went to his wife and whispered in her ear and ask her how the pizza was and she replied good with a questionable look. Then he went back to the man and said that she had left it in the car.
The man leaned over one more time and said you don't have that check. You gave it away. Then the preached said well how do you know that. He said God told me that you gave it away and he said that he was going to teach you a lesson about giving. Then he handed the preacher a folded up piece of paper.
Then the preacher opened it up and realized that it was a check for 10 times the amount of the check he gave away.
Malachi 3:8&9
8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.
The tithe is what keep our lights on, A/C on and water on. As well it also gives us a place to worship God and have fellowship.
