John 14:16-18
Coming To The Filling Of The Holy Spirit

 John 14:16-18

16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—

17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Introduction To The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a part of the trinity.  There is God The Father, God The Son, & God The Spirit.

Recently there was a study done that showed how most people post covid has decided to change church's and going to another church.  They are changing because of Ideology instead of theology.  They are changing because the church they were going to before covid does not line-up with what they want to believe.

Another words I don't care what you believe or don't believe I just want you to line-up with me ideology.  I don't want to feel uncomfortable when you don't line-up with what I want to think or believe.

And man by the name of George Barna did a servey and said: "Nearly 60% of Americans who regularly attend Christian church say there is no such thing as the Holy Spirit- they say the Holy Spirit is just a symbol of God's power or presence or purity."

That means that 60% of church going people do not believe in the trinity.

The Holy Spirit is who helps you.  We see the Holy Spirit show up in the beginning.

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness [a]was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Matthew 28:19

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Here we see that it was very important to be pointed out by Jesus to Baptized them in the trinity.  In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is in every aspect of our life if we are a Christian.  The Holy Spirit is power and he aluminates our life and understanding.

Acts 10:44-45

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

Here we see Peter still preaching when the Holy Spirit fell upon all those people that were there.  This included both Jews and Gentiles.

If you are a Christian then it was the Spirit of God that drew you in to Him.  The is the Holy Spirit it is just not being filled with the Holy Spirit.

When you are filled with the Holy Spirit it will open your eyes to see  and understand the word of God.

Have you ever opened your Bible and sat down with your paper, pen, something to drink and realized that as you read that you don't understand or lost in what it is saying.

We go back to John 14:16 which says "He will give you another Helper."  I don't know about you, but I need another Helper.

When your kids are growing up and they don't listen and are tearing up the house this is when you need a Helper.  See you see the Holy Spirit as someone that only helps you while you are in a spiritual need or at church, however the Holy Spirit can help keep you from beating your and it will help you to not pull the guy out of the car that just almost ran over you.

Act 1:8

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

You say to me "Pastor, I don't understand why the Holy Spirit doesn't give me power to heal my own body, or why it doesn't give me power to pick up my car.  This is not what the Holy Spirit is dedicated to do, He is dedicated to help you understand and discern, and to fight off the Devil.  He helps you to understand.

Acts 2:1-4

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.  Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
