Luke 5:16
Prayer Time

 Luke 5:16

16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.   Jesus often times was in need of a break of His daily routine to get recharged from God and the Holy Spirit.  This shows us as an example that we need to take time to pray.

It is important for God's people to spend time on their knees in prayer.  We must spend time talking to God.

Psalm 55:16-17

16 As for me, I will call upon God, And the Lord shall save me.

17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.

1.  Schedule Time with God:

When should give God the time with our prayer to question Him or to praise Him.  God is looking for us to call out to Him.  When I pray sometime there are all of those little interruptions that stops me from connecting with my heavenly Father.

Have you ever knelt down to pray and the phone rings, or the A/C kicks on, or maybe the dog starts to bark.  Everything that happens around us seems to effect us.

Have you ever came to the alters at church and nelt down on your knees and you keep hearing someone talking, or maybe there is a kid in the back that screams, or the person next to you is so load in prayer that you hear them over yourself.

You see our real problem is that self and Satan get in the way of that true connection with God.  We need to be determined to set our mind upon God so that we can make the connection no matter what.

There has been times when my wife starts to tell me something in the middle of a TV show I am watching.  When she does that I am so concentrated on the show that I do not know what she said.  We need to be so concentrated that we can only focus on talking and listening to God.

David set a time with God and spent that time only with him.  It is a good idea for you to set that time every morning and evening to talk to God.

      Schedule time with God.

I have started to work on reading a few verses of the Bible every morning and then spend a few minutes in prayer.

     2.  Pray in Sincerity and Honestly:

Hebrews 4:13

13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Are you honest with God when you pray?  Do you really talk to God when you pray?

Nothing can be hidden from God.  Everything is completely open to God.  You cannot hide what you did last night, last week, or last year.  God is someone that is all seeing, all knowing, and hears all.

3.  Pray Expecting An Answer

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

When we pray we should not pray in a way that we are already deafeted.  God know when you are down and knows your need before you ask.

We should pray know that God has the answer and know how to take care of the problem.  God already has a plan to solve all things and renew our strength.  Pray in a way that you know He is going to not only answer your prayer but, that He is already solved your problem.

There is nothing wrong with praying in confidence, knowing that God has you in His hands.
