Judges 6:36-40
Here's Your Sign

Judges 6:36-40

36 So Gideon said to God, “If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said—

37 look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said.”

38 And it was so. When he rose early the next morning and squeezed the fleece together, he wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowlful of water.

39 Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, but on all the ground let there be dew.”

40 And God did so that night. It was dry on the fleece only, but there was dew on all the ground.

Have you noticed that we are constantly asking for more signs.  Here we find Gideon asking for a sign from God and when he gets that sign instead of accepting the sign he asked for another one.

My wife and I were looking to buy a house over 10 years ago.  We had prayed about getting another house, but we did not feel like God was giving us the ok.  We went ahead and found a realtor and we got pre-approved for the loan.  We started to look for a home that was a little bigger than ours.  Our realtor called and said she found a home in Corinth that was a 2 story and was of fairly new construction within our price range.  So we saw it and we loved it and made an offer.  We prayed about the house and was waiting on an answer from God.  Then we get a call nearly 2 weeks later that someone had offered more than we had and that offer was accepted.

When we got home we were talking about it and we felt God saying this house was not for us.  As we continued to look there was one more thing that had came up with our loan that was really bother me.

When we filled out the information for our loan the man on the phone was trying to convince me to say that I made more money than I slightly did and that it would not be looked into.  I argued a little with him and finally somewhat agreed.  However, God kept telling me that it was wrong and that we needed to back out of looking for a house.  As much as we wanted a bigger house we had to listen to God.  And we stopped looking for a house.

Little did I know back then that I would be a pastor years later and would be very happy that my house was paid off so that I could go full time a pastor.

Now don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with signs.  If I have a sign that says VBS and it gives me the date do I believe this sing or not?  Of course I would!  If I don't then I am questing a sign that is plain as day.

Let me put it another way.  If you walk into a store and you see a sign that says "shoes regularly $100 marked down 50%, then when you get to the register you are expecting those to ring up at $50.

Here's Your Sign

When God says that he will bless you when you pay your tithes then why do you not believe what he says?  God did say "try me in these things" however He did not say question me in these things.

It took 10 bad things to happen in Egypt or to Pharaoh before he finally understood.

Here's Your Sign

When are you going to get a clue.  When are you going to start trusting in God.  It is easy to lose our trust in God.  Why?  Because Satan wants us to lose out trust in God so that Satan can take over our mind and backslide into a sinners Hell.

Proverbs 3:5-6

7Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Putting your trust in God is the way forward.  Set aside your doubts and anxieties and turn it all over to God.

James 1:6-8

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

In verse 6 it says like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.  This to be in a state of continual agitation; driven by the wind, and tossed.

Another words to be a doubter.

This is exactly what a double-minded man means.

Don't doubt what God has said that he would do.

One of the things that we do most is doubt what God can and has done.  God has brought out of COVID at a possible death experience and brought me to do this day.  I should not doubt God at all.

Well.....He has not healed my back.  One day God will heal my back and it will be set free of the pressure and pain that I feel.

I will pray and trust in God if I look for a house.

I will pray and trust in God when I buy that new car.

I will pray and trust in God when I apply for that good paying job.

If you trust in God then He will deliver what He promised in His time not yours.

My wife and myself have prayed for our grandkids, kids, and many other people including MTC Family Members and they have been healed, why would I doubt God now?
