Jeremiah 17:7-8
Trust In God

Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

            We must trust in God with all of our heart.  We must trust God and know that God's wisdom, power, goodness, and promises are there for us through whatever we go through.

            It says in verse 7 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord."  If we can only learn to give that full trust in the Lord then we will get more blessing's in our life.

            If we can only learn to plant our roots deep into God.  If we can learn to fully trust God in whatever comes our way the we can be like that tree planted by the water.  We will always have God to give us life.

            A tree root can grow up to 20 feet deep.  If a tree root is deep in the ground it can withstand a very long drought sitting next to water, even if the water is dried up on the surface.  Water can remain very deep in the soil for much longer than out in the open, exposed to the sun.

            Why does the tree not fear when the heat and drought comes?  Because it's root system goes deep enough that it is still reaching the nutrishes water that it needs to survive.

            That means even in the times when we think God is not there with us.

Proverbs 3:5-7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

            We must be careful not to try to do things our way.  This is not Burger King where you can have it our way.  We must acknowledge God and He will direct us in the way we need to go..

            We tend to place our trust more in the world and not in God.  God can help us along the way with things that try to tear us down and demolish us.  The world wants us to bow to their way of thinking and the ways that are not right according to the word of God.  However, in John 16:33 Jesus said "for I have overcome the world".

            This means when we step out in faith knowing that God will take care of our supply or our situations, then that is exactly what he will do.  We must stand strong in the Lord.

            Trusting in God is one of things that we must develop and learn to do.  Have you ever seen the trick that people have done where when you are standing in a spot and there are people behind you ready to catch you and you have to trust them to actually catch you when you fall backward?

We must trust in God 100%.

Ephesians 6:10-13

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

            We need to build our strength with God by our everyday commitment to him.  By our prayer time with him.  We must stand strong for God no matter what our everyday life throws at us.  If we are strong in the Lord then he will give us the power to stand.

            If we looked through the Bible we would find that may times there were people who had to place their full trust in the Lord to get through the battle.  Do you think it was easy for the Israelites to march around those walls of Jericho day in and day out and nothing happening.  For 6 days this went on.

            However in the end of all of that God was there.  Their trust in the Lord paid off.
