1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Prayer

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always,

17 pray without ceasing,

18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Job had everything taken away from him and yet he still trusted God and gave him thanks for what he still had.  His life.

When you are in need of something then pray.

Last night we received a phone call and Little Michael was running a fever 104 degrees.  We started praying for him on the phone and it wasn't long before my wife was on the phone with our daughter and she said his fever was down to 102.  Praise The Lord because God was working on the prayers that were sent up to him.

I was here on Thursday morning and after I got done with some work on the computer I began to pray.  God began to fill this building and before I knew it I had been praying for more than 30 to 45 minutes.  When you get on your knees before God and give it all to Him then you world will change.

1Kings 18:41-46

41 Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.”

42 So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees,

43 and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.”

So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.”

44 Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab,  ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ ”

45 Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.

46 Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

Prayer can make what seems Impossible, Possible.

            God will your prayer.

It took Elijah sending out his servant 7 times looking for rain before he finally saw a cloud.

You may not get your answer today and you may not get it tomorrow.  You may not get your answer in February, March, April, or May.  You may not get your answer this year, but you better have faith and know that God is working on your answer.  All you have to do is continue to pray and have faith in God.

Proverbs 15:8

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

When my wife and I got married I had lost my job a week or so before.  We both began to pray that God would help me find a job and He did just that.  A couple of weeks later I was back to work.

My God wants to answer your prayer and happy to do it if you are right with God.  But, you need to know that God is going to do it on His time and not yours.  You just trust and believe in Him.

1 Kings 19:11-12

11 Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;

12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [a]a still small voice.

Sometimes God is in the small things not the big things.

Just yesterday I was at my mothers and had called AAA to come out and change her battery.  When the man started check the battery it was fine and then he checked the alternator and it wasw fine.  He said there is nothing wrong other than it had sat to long without being started and it was just a little low on charge.  Once it was started and ran for a few minutes then there was no more problem.  It cost us nothing.  Sometimes God is in the small things that we don't look at.

Luke 18: 42-43

42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”

43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Jesus often time went off by himself to pray.

Prayer can change your outcome.

I cannot express how my pray time was here at the church with God.  Something about being here and beginning to pray and worship God broke loose some chains that had me bound.

We often tell people that we have spent time praying, but my question to you is when you spend time praying do you get lost in the presence of God.

When I was here praying I got so much into my prayer and worshipping to God that time was none existence.

If you want someone in your family to get saved then you pray.

If you need healing in your body then you pray.

If you need a car then you pray.

If you need a job then you pray.

If you want more of God then you pray.
