Matthew 7:16-20
Showing The World Who You Are

Matthew 7:16-20

16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.  You shall know them by their fruits - how many of you have ever met someone's kids and because of the way they act you think "their parents have not taught them better.

There is an old saying that says the fruit does not fall far from the tree.

Science says that we need at least 4 Basic Elements to survive.

  • Water
  • Air
  • Food
  • Light

Jesus says:

  • I am the Living Water
  • I am the Breath Of Life
  • I am the Bread Of Life
  • I am the Light of the World

What we show to others is often time what we have on the inside.

John 15:6

If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

If your heart is not getting the living water or the spiritual nutrients that it needs then it will begin to wither and die.

In John 15:6 we just read, it says that a branch that is withered and I plucked and thrown into the fire and burned.

Living a life for Christ means that I will be healthy with Christ like qualities.

Job was someone that lived a lot like Christ.  He was someone that had all of the money, wealth and material things of this world and yet he loved God and lived totally for Him.

Job even lost everything he had and never wavered from living for God.

What we take into our bodies will determine how we are perceived to others.  Because, the things that we listen to and see during the week will come out to other in some kind of form.  You know if you are going to try and be a boxer and you start training and watching boxing then it will come out in your everyday life a lot of time with anger.

I used to see a very strong young man jogging down one of the streets there in town that was a boxer.  How did I know?  Because, I have seen him out and the front yard or sidewalk throwing punches.  He also used to jog around the block with chains hanging around his neck.  He was a tough young man and he showed it.  I don't know if I had ever seen him smile.  Not someone you want to tangle with.

The things we do while in church or at or jobs or wherever we may be will show others who we are.

We must take in the good things.

The people that we hang around can determine if we fail or live for God.  If you are hanging around the wrong people then it usually will eventually rub off on you.

Are you the person that is on the phone more than listening to the service and praising God.

Are you texting people while in service?

Are you making comments on our Facebook Live Post while you should be listening to the preacher?

If you are posting questionable things or bad things on Social Media then what do people think of you?

Are you drawing or playing with the kids more than you are praising God in service?

People will find every excuse to not hear what God has to say.

People will get up to go to the restroom or talk on the phone more than listening to God.

            Where is your heart at?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Romans 12:1-2

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
