Galatians 6:7-8
You Reap What You Sow

Galatians 6:7-8

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

            When I was young there were farms all over the place.  There were even small farms still around this area and where I live in Lewisville.  The would grown all kind of vegetable and fruits.  Most people that leaved in the more condensed residential neighborhoods has eight a small garden or fruit trees.

            My Dad when he was a teenager used to pick cotton for J. B. Moody's dad that owned a very large cotton farm somewhere north of here.  He said they would spend all day out in the fields picking cotton.

            When I was in my mid thirty's I bought a 1 acre lot in Ponder, placed me a mobile home on that property and started a garden first thing.  My garden was about as big as this church approximately 40'x60'.  I had planted corn, radishes, green beans, carrots, watermelon, cucumbers, okra, cantaloupe, and a few other crops.

            One thing that I learned is that what I did not plant, I would not harvest.

            Second is that whatever see that I planted must have water.

            Third is that the sun also was important for the plants to grow.

Matthew 13:23

But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

  1. Sow To Reap

            Many years ago in China there in a ancient tomb they found some seed that were more than 2000 years old.  Those seed did not sprout over 2000 years until they were planted, water, and had sun.  Once they sowed that see then they could reap the harvest.

            In order for me to learn the guitar I had to put a lot of time into playing and practicing.  When I was learning the Bass Guitar I had to spend a lot of time practicing sometimes at other peoples expense.  I know I drove some people crazy while I was trying to learn.  Sis. Donna and Davey have done the same as myself.  They have spent a lot of time practicing to play like they do today.

            The point in the is that you in order to reap the benefits of know something you have to practice or learn and study to receive a talent or your career.

  1. You Will Reap What You Sow

            Have you been sowing the good seed in your own life in order to reap what God has for you.

Have you been reading the Bible?

Have you been praying often?

Have you been staying away from gossip?

Have you been defending your church or pastor?

            What you sow you will reap!

            If you want to reap the goodness and mercy of God then you must sow the goodness and righteousness.

            When we are around people out in the world we need to be talking about things that are good.  They are watching you and listening.  They are sitting in the booth behind you or a nearby table and hearing what you are talking about.  How can you witness if you are talking bad about your church or the church family you have.

            Dad told many waitresses and waiters about god and invited them to church.  How would his witness be if he was talking bad about the church or someone in the church?

Galatians 6:7

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Galatians 6:8

For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

            If you sow lust, drugs, and other sins  then you will reap corruption.

Proverbs 6:12-15

12 A worthless person, a wicked man,
Walks with a perverse mouth;
13 He winks with his eyes,
He shuffles his feet,
He points with his fingers;
14 Perversity is in his heart,
He devises evil continually,
He sows discord.
15 Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly;
Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.

Numbers 32:23

Be sure your sin will find you out.

            We must know that the things that we do that are sins will be brought to light.

            We need to be careful about what comes out of our mouth.  The thing that come out may just be those words that destroy someone.  We must be careful that the words that we say are good and not destructive.  Not only are people listening to us, but we can destroy those that are Christians in the church as well.

            Words cut deeper than any sword ever will.
