Acts 2:1-4
2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
I want to first take you back to something that Jesus said in John 14:16.
John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
He will send me the Holy Spirit that will comfort me in my time of sorrow and times of being down in the dumps. He will lift me up when I need that boost and He will give me the right words to say when I am about to say something stupid or harmful. He will also help me to do the right things.
When I grew up it was a time of excitement within the Pentecostal church's all over the US. Church's were growing leaps and bonds because, of God and the Holy Spirit. The Pentecostal were known to be Holy Rollers as they called them.
I remember being in church up until midnight at times because, people would get slain in the Holy Spirit and be crying out to God. This was an exciting time because you never knew what was going to happen.
Somehow today many people have lost touch with the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. We no longer want to be filled with the Holy Spirit because, we don't want people to hear us speak in tongues because, we think it is of the old time.
We also have so many people that does not understand what the Holy Spirit can do for them. There are so many things that the Holy Spirit can do for you and help you with. Remember in Act 16 Jesus said I will send a helper for you.
He Teaches Us
Jesus taught His disciples while on earth. Just before leaving them He said:
John 14:26
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

He Helps Us
John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
I don't know about you, however I need all the help I can get.
He Guides Us
Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit would guide our spirit to know what is right and what is wrong.
John 16:8
8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
We spend so much time getting ourselves wrapped up in the sins of this world that we can't see to even know Jesus as our personal savior much less have the Holy Spirit living inside of us and helping us.
There is much more that we can get from the Holy Spirit.
These are the gifts of the Sprit:
- Word of Wisdom
- Word of Knowledge
- Faith
- Gifts of Healing
- Working of Miracles
- Prophecy
- Discerning of Spirits
- Different Kinds of Tongues
- Interpretation of Tongues
Do not discount or turn away from of God.
If you receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit then you receive power from the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
This scripture say that with this power it gives us the knowledge to be effective witnesses to others living in sin.
But, the Holy Spirit also teaches us and help us in our daily lives.
This is the same spirit that the Bible talks about over in Genesis and throughout all the Old Testament when it says the Spirit of God however the difference in the New Testament says that we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
This means that when we need something from the Holy Spirit that He doesn't just come when God sends Him, but He lives in us daily.
