Job 38:22-23
Be A Snowmaker

Job 38:22-23

22 “Have you entered the treasury of snow,
Or have you seen the treasury of hail,
23 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
For the day of battle and war?

            I never realized and some of you may have not either than snow is mentioned about 24 times in the Bible.

            When I was a little boy of about 8 to 9 years old (around 1975) I remember a Christmas where we had snow, about 6 inches to be exact.  I had went to bed on Christmas Eve night around 9:00PM.  About an hour or so later I woke up and hears sleet hitting the window and when I walked into the living room my mom was standing at the front door jumping at the sleet that was falling.  When I said something to her she made me go back to bed.  The next morning when I got up there was about 5 to 6 inches of snow on the ground.

            That snow took all night to build and it built fairly quickly.  The reason why it built so fast was the fact that the snowflakes were big and it never stopped  and the temperature was just right for it to stick.

            I believe the scripture is a metaphor for our prayer life.  If we will pray for something and it comes from the heart then we will build up our treasury of snow or hail and when trouble comes our way then God will be there to send it back our way to win the war against our enemy Satan.

            Snow also cleanses or purifies.  When the snow come down and sticks to the ground it freezes to what it lands on which kills most all bacteria's and insects.  when it melts it leaves everything clean and pure ready for re-growth.

            God has a way or a plan on how to take care of us.

Isaiah 55:8-9

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

            When God sends down that snow or hail he kills or stops what is going on and cleanses you, but He also know what you are thinking and is already ahead of you.  That is His ways are higher than the Heavens above the earth.

Isaiah 55:8-11

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

          God know what we need before we ask, however He requires that commitment from us and that communication.  If we give that and we give it from the heart then He will hear our prayer and send down the answer.

God has His fingerprints on every snow flake.

Psalm 148:7-8

Praise the Lord from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;

Job 37:6

For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’;
Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.

Psalm 147:16

He gives snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes;

            Snow is purposed by God to glorify him and “do his bidding.” Snow has a Sender (Job 37:6), frost has a Scatter-er (Psalm 147:16), and God uses both to showcase his supremacy (Job 38:22).

            When we think of God's glory in nature, we think usually of Spring with the beautiful flowers and the beautiful birds that come around.  When we think of Summer thing about the warmth and the beautiful sunrise are sunset's that we get.  But when we think about Winter we think about dreading the snow and cold weather that will probably come.

            Therefore, when it snows, let's not act as if God is not involved.  Do not grumble and complain, because every snow flake was created by God and He make every snowflake different just like He made everyone of us.

            After David had fallen into grave sin, he repented and asked God to wash him and make him "whiter than snow" (Psalm 51:7).  One of the things about snow's purpose is to visibly remind you that your sin has been covered by the winter-white grace through Jesus' blood red cross.

Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.

            We must become "Snowmaker's" and be on our knees in prayer and build up that snow as deep as it takes and God will rain down that snow or hail when we need our prayer's answered.
