Matthew 1:21
21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
In the Bible name mattered. They did not name someone back then because of a celebrity's name or because their parents were name that name. Names meant something, names meant strength, or character were often what someone was destined to be because of their name. In scripture, when God was about to do something new with a person, He would often change the name.
Abram became Abraham.
Jacob became Israel.
Simon became Peter.
Saul became Paul.
Through-out the Bible, we see God switching names around becase He's switching up their identities to fit their jobs in their kingdom's.
It is time to take charge of who's name you are identified with and use it to drive out demons and heal the sick and that name is Jesus.
The name Jesus, means "the Lord is salvation".
What more fitting name could there be for our Savior than "Jesus"? The angel told Joseph to name the child Jesus, "because He will save his people from their sins."
Mark 16:17-18
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
In the Great Commission, Jesus empowers His followers - including you if you are a follower - to do supernatural signs in His name. By faith in Jesus' name you can "drive out demons.....speak in new tongues.....and place your hands on sick people and the will get well or be healed.
I recall seeing a 9 demons cast out of a women by using the name Jesus and on the last demon the side door open and slammed shut.
I remember seeing someone read a drivers license with an eye socket that had no eye and the good eye being covered with tape.
I recall several times that we have prayed for test results and they came back negative in the name of Jesus.
Matthew 28:18
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
John 16:23-24
23 “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
This scripture says to pray to the Father in My name. Don't be hesitant or timid, James wrote, in
James 4:2
2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
Jesus said our part is to "ask" In His name. God's part is to answer.
I know that my name does not matter. You can call on my name for healing or to be saved, but the only thing I can do for you is bring you a Dr Pepper.
However, there is power in the name of Jesus.
John 14:13
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
There is power in that name, the name of Jesus.
You have been searching for the answer, and have not found one.
You have ask your friends for the answers, and have not found one.
You have ask the doctors for a healing drug, and have not found one.
You have been wondering why your loved ones have not been saved, and have not found one.
I am going to give you the answers to all of your questions and problems this morning.
"Jesus"
Jesus is your answer.
Jesus is your friend.
Jesus is your doctor.
Jesus all you need.
There is power in the name of Jesus.
You may have a hard time getting up in the mornings and carrying out your day, but Jesus will help you.
You might wonder where the money is coming for that light bill.
You might be looking for food.
You may be looking for peach.
Jesus is your answer. Call on Him and God will deliver.
Ezekiel 16:6
6 “And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’
John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Matthew 19:23-26
23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
If you serve Jesus and live by His commands then all things are possible.
