Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
- Attitude of Anger
There are 2 birds that are more opposite that seek something different. We are talking about the vulture and the humming bird. They both fly over the earth and look to the ground for food. The vulture will look down from the sky for dead meat. They will look for some of the most gross and sometime worst smelling meat there is and then you have the humming bird that only looks for flowers.
The humming bird looks for that sweet smelling flower that they can get the nice taste of the nectar that it produces. The humming bird would never go after the meat no matter how hungry it is, because it's body is not designed to eat meat nor does it want the meat. It does not want the meat because it has never tasted nor had the desire for it.
There are people out the with the attitude to tear people apart and destroy their joy and happiness. They do not want to see you succeed or do anything good.
In the Bible the in Mark it talks about how the Pharisees sought out Jesus to catch Him doing something wrong so that they could eat him alive or should I say destroy Him. They were the vultures of that time seeking out the body of Jesus to kill him.
Mark 3:1-6
3 And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.
2 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.
3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.”
4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.
5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.
6 Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.
The Pharisees want to find and pick away at Jesus, because they want control of everything.
Have you ever met those kind of people? You know the ones that wanted to destroy your life because they didn't like you or maybe they were jealous of you. They will go through your life to find what they don't like to try to bring you down to where they are at, miserable.
- Attitude of Jealousy
People can get so jealous of someone that they want hurt them. They will call out something you said in front of everyone because you have more than them, or maybe you got a better job, car, or house than they did.
Genesis 4:8
Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
Cain was a gardener and Able was a sheep herder. It came a time when Cain & Abel brought to God and offering of sacrifice. And the when offering was giving Cain's offering was not accepted by God buy his brothers Abel's offering was accepted. This made Cain very jealous and angry and Cain while in the field one day to Abel and killed him.
Jealousy will destroy you and make you so angry that you want to hurt that person. Maybe not kill them, but you want their life to be as miserable as yours is which you don't want to admit too.
If you want to read another story in the Bible about jealousy you can go read it in Genesis 37 where Joseph got a coat of many color from his father and the brother got jealous.
- Attitude of Unforgiveness
Luke 17:1-4
17 Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!
2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
Unforgiveness is a big attitude problem. When someone does something that is completely wrong and you have to forgive. You see Jesus even went on to say you will not make it into heaven if you have not forgiving someone.
Matthew 6:14
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
It is hard to forgive someone that has done you completely wrong especially if it is another Christian person. Be careful and make sure that you make it in to Heaven by forgiving them.
There are none of us that are perfect and sometime we do something bad to someone without knowing that's why Paul said that he dies out daily.
These are only a few attitude problems that we need to work on. There are many more, but time is not permitted for me to go through them all. Pray, seek and you will find your answer with the Word of God and through your prayers.
