1 Corinthians 15:57
We Have Victory

1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

            I know that most everyone in this building has watched a football game or at least part of one at some time.  Do you remember that moment when someone would run the ball 30 yards down the field to make it over the line to a touchdown?  That moment when they realize they have made a score for their team and they get so excited that they do some fancy little dance or routine that they have came up with for the victory.

            We need to see that kind of victory in our life with Christ and celebrate when we have that victory.  My God is an awesome God and He gives us victories great and small every day.  We need to recognize those victories and celebrate and Thank God every time they happen in our lives.

            You might say well I have not had no victories today.  Did you not wake up this morning?  Did you not make it to church?  We should celebrate because we have been a born again Christian.

1 John 5:4

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

            I want to remind you of three Jewish men captured and taken to Babylon by Kin Nebuchadnezzar, where they were given new Babylonian names.

            This is found in Daniel chapter 3:

  1. Captivity and Training:

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were among the young, wise, and capable men taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

  1. Nebuchadnezzar'sImage:

King Nebuchadnezzar built a great golden image and commanded everyone to worship it.

  1. Refusal to Worship:

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to the image, as they would only worship the one true God.

  1. Fiery Furnace:

As punishment, the king had them bound and thrown into an intensely hot furnace.

  1. Divine Deliverance:

While the fire killed those who cast them in, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were unharmed. A fourth figure, resembling a son of God, was seen with them in the flames.

  1. Recognition of God:

The king was amazed by their survival and acknowledged their God's power, decreeing that no one could speak against Him.

            They found victory, because they trusted in God and was tried by the fire and was approved by God.

            Have you ever been alone in the dark and started to feel scared as if you thought something or someone was in the room with you?  Maybe you realized it was Satan or maybe just your imagination.  At that moment you start to call on God's name or the name of Jesus asking for help.  Do you know why you call on Jesus?  You call because there is Victory in the name of Jesus.

            Let me give you some scriptures when you have fear.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Psalm 56:3

Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.

                      You have victory over all fear, because you have Jesus.

                      We often time will go through problems in our lives.  We will go through times of disappointment, fear, disease, sickness, brokenness, depression, anxiety & maybe anger, however we need to know that we as Christians have Jesus and He is our victory.
