Psalm 91:1-2
91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”
I want to preach this morning about a place to escape too and a place to keep you save.
God is a shelter and a fortress when things are hard or dangerous. He promises to be there in your time of trouble. He will not on remover the trouble, but he will also protect you from the trouble.
Verse 1 tells us that if we stay in the secrete place of God then we abide in his shadow. This meant that we are under his protection. Now I thank God that I am under his protection.
God's faithfulness acts as a shield, protecting you from unseen dangers and the schemes of the enemy.
Psalm 121:7-8
7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
If you will keep yourself in the Lord then He will be there for you. That means you must keep up your prayer life and continue to talk to God. Prayer is important if you wish to stay close because, this is our communication or conversation with God.
God will send His angels to protect us and surround us with a hedge of protection.
I wanted you to see this, this is some different mother birds that protect their young with their wings.
Psalm 63:7
Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.
You must put your trust in God and know that He is there to protect you.
Through out this week I have seen God's protection and me and how it works.
As everyone here know we moved out to the country in which our land has a lot of trees. When you have a lot of trees and untouched woods it tend to harbor some very mean and nasty critters. This week have seen 3 copper heads.
One day I was working on cleaning the goat path when I reached down to pick up a tree limb and about 2 feet away from under the tree limb crawled a copper head snake. He was small and got away before I could grab anything to get him with.
Then on Friday I was grabbing some T-Post for a chicken pen and in the pile I say a large copper head crawling. I tried to find him after grabbing a shovel to kill it with, however he had disappeared.
Then last night I walked into the barn only to find what looked like the same snake sitting on top of a pile of lumber. He got a good cut and dropped and crawled off injured. He may be dead or alive, I don't know.
This is what I can God watching over me and keeping me protected. At any point in all three situations I could have been to close and been bit in the hospital. However, did not only God protect me, but on the last time He allowed me to see it before I even got with 10' of that snake.
But, I also seen firsthand how God is there to protect us even when we see something happening. One day my wife and I heard one of the dogs whining and the other one barking. We knew something must be wrong so, we went looking to find that Judah had gotten himself tangled up in the electrical fence (which was not on) and was to the point that he was choking himself out. Because, we heard and saw his cry we were able to untangle him before he might have passed out from lack of air.
There is times when Satan is going to be able to attack us and it may be painful just as Judah got tangled up and was losing his breath. However, God will come along and untangle us or should I say save or protect us from anything worst happening to us.
So, how do we live with this protection that God promises?
Stay in His secret place: Get into an intimate relationship with God instead of visiting Him only in the emergencies.
Make Him your place of refuge: Stay in His dwelling place and set your sites and love upon Him.
Trust God Timing: Sometimes God protects you by closing doors or changing your path, protecting you from dangers you cannot see. God timing when He steps in is perfect.
Stay under His wings: Live in obedience to Him, which allows you to remain under His divine, protective wing.
Trust in His Power: Recognize that nothing can snatch you out of the Father's hand if you will keep your eyes and heart on Him.
John 10:27-30
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
30 I and My Father are one.”
