Romans 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
King Ahasuerus reigned over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces from India to Ethiopia. His wife at that time was Queen Vashti.
Queen Vashti made a feast for the women in the royal palace which belonged to King Ahsuerus. Also the King has made a feast for all his officials and servants, powers of Persia and Media, the nobles, and the princes of the provinces being before him.
Esther 1:10-11
10 On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus,
11 to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold.
12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him.
That refusal might be better understood via the Jewish tradition that she was ordered to appear naked.
After she refuses the King she was never allowed to come before him again and was rejected as queen. Now the King had decided to bring some beautiful young virgins to see who might become the new Queen.
Now this is where the story of Queen Esther begins. Queen Esther was one of the young women that were brought before the king and was selected because she pleased the King.
To me Queen Esther was one of the women that God had placed for a purpose.
Mordecai discovers a plot to kill the King by two men standing at the gate named Bigthan and Teresh. So Mordecai gets the information to Queen Esther and she tells the King. When the King hears about the plot the two men were hanged.
Then as the story goes on King Ahasuerus appoints Haman as his right hand man. All of the Kings servant and people within side the gate were to bow to him and pay homage. However, one did not and that was Mordecai which made Haman fureus.
Haman was so mad that he decided to destroy all the Jews. Haman goes to the King and say this.
Esther 3:8-11
8 Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; their laws are different from all other people’s, and they do not keep the king’s laws. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them remain.
9 If it pleases the king, let a decree be written that they be destroyed, and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who do the work, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.”
10 So the king took his signet ring from his hand and gave it to Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews.
11 And the king said to Haman, “The money and the people are given to you, to do with them as seems good to you.”
So the scribes wrote it and the decree was sent out to all provinces and to everyone to kill all Jews including woman and children starting on a particular day.
Haman even went as far as to have a gallows built at his place to hang Mordecai.
Mordecai finds out and gets word to Queen Esther and she is scared to talk to the Kings but, wants to help her people. So Queen Esther says this to all Jews in Queen Esther 4:16
Esther 4:16
16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
When you are in a crisis it is time for you to get serious with God. Queen Esther knew where the answer was going to come from and was in a continuous communication with God.
Queen Esther then plans a big feast to talk with the King and Haman and eventually tells him of everything that was going on in front of Haman.
The King sentences Haman to death by his own gallows that he built and later hangs all of his sons.
God used Queen Esther to save the Jews.
I am here to tell you today that you may be going through some trial and you may find sometimes that there is no way but, you get in touch with God and talk to Him about your troubles and you will come out on the other side.
Mordecai was moved to be the Kings right hand man and the King even gave him the insignia ring which meant he had more than what he thought he had.
Sometimes we try to move ourselves up higher than where God has placed us. We try to get ahead of God and God says no you are here not up there. Don't let your pride or your own agenda get in the way of God.
