Exodus 13:21-22
Be The Light

Exodus 13:21-22

21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.

22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

In Exodus it begins to talk about when Moses lead the Israelites out of Egypt.  Moses get them all the way to the Red Sea with Pharaoh and his army after them.  By the time they reach the Red Sea the Israelites are all complaning because they are seeing no hope.

You know what the is like to see no hope, right?

The are looking at the sea and thinking you have lead us here for the slaughter.  All of this army is behind us and we are blocked and we will die when they arrive here.  But, God knows what is ahead and knows just what to do.  God see their struggle and He sees yours and you must put all your faith into God.  He is that light at the end of the tunnel.

Have you ever had the chance to go through a long tunnel when you could not see or barely see the end.  As you travel through the tunnel you can't wait to see the light so you know you are on your way out.

God sees your struggle and He know whether to pull you out are let you go further or whether it is for your benefit or others.

When Moses and the Israelites were in the middle of the wilderness they did not have to feel the wrath of the sun because God sent a cloud (not only for them to follow) but, for them to have a covering to keep them from getting to hot in the daytime.

Revelation 1:7

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

Notice that this is written at the beginning of the Bible where God is leading by a pillar of cloud and then in Revelation's it says He is coming back with the clouds.

It is that covering that God gives us when we serve Him.  I am not saying that means anything, however it does talk about them at the beginning and the end of the Bible.

Then we see that God also sent a pillar of fire for them to have light at night.  The fire is one of the most talked about elements of the old and new testament.

After all of the complaining Moses lifted up his rod and God parted the red sea, dried the ground and they walked across on dry ground.  Then when the army got in the middle of the sea chasing them God commanded the waters to come back together and the army drowned.

Exodus 3:2

And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.

We need that fire from heaven to consume our life.

In Acts chapter 2 we see the power of the Holy Spirit that came down in a upper room and it filled that room and the people.  It says in Acts 2:3 "Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

When you get a few verses down in Acts 2:5 it starts to talk about the people in town gathering around the upper room where they were all filled with the Power of the Holy Ghost and heard the Wonderful Works of God.

When you are saved you are saved under John 3:16.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

It also says that if you follow Him you will have the light of life.

John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

If you are walking around feeling gloomy and constantly full of the darkness of this world then you are not walking in the light of God.

We must be careful to not get caught up in the bad in this world all the time, because if we do then we are not showing the light.

Don't be a "Debbie Downer", but be a "Bright Light".

Another way to put this is that if you are the care taker of a lighthouse and you let all of the windows get dirty and completely filled in dirt and filth then no one will be able to see the light from your lighthouse.  This means that you will crash and burn if you are not seeing the light of God and have him in your heart.  However, if you keep those windows clean then they will be able to see your light from a long distance away.

We do not have to go around and tell everyone that we are a Christian, we can just show them with the light that we bear.  With the happiness, joy, and excitement in us.

Many years ago I was talking to someone about being a Christian and then getting filled with the Holy Spirit.  I got so excited about talking about that, I could fill the excitement and my face lighting up as I talked about it.  You should be happy and excited about Christ.

Do not walk around your everyday life and be defeated.

Do not walk around made every time something happens that you don't like.

Do not walk around being angry or upset at people.

You are a child of the most high God.  Let your light shine!  Let people know that you are different than you used to be when you where living in sin.  You are born again and now a new creation in the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 9:5

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

It's about time that you build up a fire down deep inside your soul and get excited about God.  Let's get some of that Holy Ghost excitement going and let people know that we are excited about God and Him saving our soul and filling us up with the fire of the Holy Spirit.
